In Portugal, the activity of NEC is focused in the supply of Information Technologies and Telecommunications integrated solutions. This activity is performed by taking advantage of the knowledge and experience that its Engineering and Systems Integration teams have accumulated during its more than 20 years of activity in Portugal. This local knowledge and experience is further expanded and consolidated through the support provided by NEC Corporation and its different Sales and R&D subsidiaries across the World.

NEC Portugal´s activity is divided according to two market segments, addressed by two corresponding separate business units: Telecommunications Operators and Enterprise. These business units address the needs of their respective customers in the target solution areas of IT and telecommunications infrastructure, smart IT solutions, such as Smart Cities and Industry 4.0, and public safety and biometrical identification solutions. All of the solutions provided in each of these target areas are delivered using in-house engineering capability in terms of its design, development, maintenance and professional services.

Degree in Electrotechnical and Computers Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and an MBA with specialization in Marketing from Universidade Católica. Professional experience of more than 25 years, had a career in several world-renowned companies, such as IBM and Cisco, in leadership roles. Since 2005, when joined NEC Group, he is General-Manager at NEC Portugal.

Graduation in Electrotechnical and Computers Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (1995-2001); postgraduation in Electrotechnical and Computers Engineering with specialization in Telecommunications (2002-2003) from Instituto Superior Técnico; and postgraduation PAGAP – Advanced Program in Project Management and Evaluation from CATÓLICA-LISBON School of Business & Economics from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2010-2011). Since 2005, when joined NEC Group, has been responsible by services related with maintenance, support, installation, configuration and test of equipment for optical SDH networks, radio transmission networks, terrestrial WDM optical network, synchronism, IP Juniper networks, AFIS system for Cartão do Cidadão, amongst others. Since 2008, has participated in the management of several projects in NEC, like the implementation of PGIL – Plataforma de Gestão Inteligente de Lisboa; the implementation of projects of video analytics for Municipality Halls of Lisboa and Porto; and a Femtocell trial that included the project for the installation, comissioning and integration of this solution in the carrier network of Sonaecom.

Master in Electromechanical Engineering at Université Libre de Bruxelles. Since 2004, has worked as Software Engineer at Promotic – IT Services & Advice; as Field Support Engineer and Expert SW Design Engineer at Alcatel-Lucent; as Project Manager at Emakina; as Operations & Application Support Manager at Alpha Networks; and as Business Consultant at BRIC (Brussels Regional Informatics Centre). When joined NEC Group, was Project Manager for SaaS Cloud platform (NEC NCBS products) and integration with ISV for Telefónica Business Solutions (2016-2019). Since July 2018, is the Smart City Project Manager / Data Analyst, being responsible for managing key and complex projects within NEC Smart City Program (projects with NEC CCOC(*)). *CCOC: City Cloud Operation Center, solution based on FIWARE technology
